Over the last six weeks we have had the pleasure of welcoming Sonny Hastie into the Foundation workforce as part of Laidlaw Foundation’s Leadership in Action placements across Cambridge.
During his time with the Foundation, Sonny has helped in several roles including event planning, partnerships, fundraising and even helping at our recent HAF Summer Camp.
This week Sonny will be hosting our Quiz Night at BrewBoard Cambridge, which promises to be a fun evening of trivia, and friendly competition – all in support of Cambridge United Foundation.
Sonny Hastie, Events and Fundraising Intern, said:
“Stepping into an unfamiliar field of work has been intimidating, and I have not always been as confident as I might have appeared to those around me. But ultimately, my experience has been extremely rewarding, formative and, most importantly, very enjoyable.
Moreover, my placement has strongly reinforced my existing belief that football can unite people and create hugely positive change in communities. Working with a changemaking organisation that leverages the power of football has been a real privilege. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to support others whilst drawing on the influence of a sport that has been so significant in my own life.”
A huge thank you to University of Cambridge’s Laidlaw Team for making the placement possible, and to Sonny, whose application and enthusiasm has been a welcome addition to the team during his time with the Foundation.
