The Premier League Community Captain Campaign celebrates people at the heart of Premier League-funded programmes for their commitment to football and society.

We are delighted to present this award to Jake Potts – our Premier League Kicks Co-ordinator, for his extraordinary efforts in providing opportunities for young people to access sporting and self-development opportunities.

Jake has worked for the foundation for three and a half years, tirelessly providing opportunities for the local community. Working across our PL Kicks programme and our seniors schemes, Jake brings an infectious sense of enthusiasm to every aspect of his work and we are proud to recognise his contribution through this Community Captain award.
“During this campaign, we will be celebrating Community Captains connected to clubs across the football pyramid. They are the unsung heroes and people who go above and beyond the call of duty to benefit the lives of others, demonstrating that football is so much more than a game.”
PL Chief Executive – Richard Masters

Jake epitomises the values of Cambridge United Foundation in every aspect of his work. He is aspirational and inclusive, always wanting the best for the young people on his programmes, no matter their backgrounds or life experiences to date. Jake is also honest and open with everyone he meets, sharing his knowledge and advice freely.

“My friends have been going since the start of the year, but I never really enjoyed football. They said that there were other things to do, so I decided to go. I now go on Thursday and Fridays every week and I have even started to join in the football, but I enjoy the volleyball most”

He has consistently sought opportunities to enhance the life experiences of young people in our communities. He rightly values youth voice, designing a series of workshops around such conversations. He cares deeply for the young people on his programme and goes above and beyond to ensure that they are receiving the best possible experiences when they attend our Kicks sessions.

The kids absolutely love coming to football! They race home from school to get ready and always come back energetic and happy. They speak very highly of the coach too!”

The award was presented by Michael Morrison – Cambridge United FC Captain, who took the time to give Jake a tour of the club’s new training facility

We would once again like to congratulate Jake on receiving this award, and we would like to thank him for all of his hard work and contributions, not just to our collective efforts, but into the local community in which he has invested!
