“The welcoming our students got from all the staff at Cambridge United was brilliant. The first team players took time out of training to socialise with the students and asked some good questions…”

Gretton School PE Teacher

Cambridge United’s newly refurbished training facility was fortunate to host a select number of students from the Gretton School, who were invited to have a tour of the facility and to meet the team.

On Thursday 25th January, a group of four students joined us at the Cambridge United Training Ground in South Cambridge, as the team were undergoing preparations to face Burton that weekend. To kick off the morning, Rich Evans (Football Operations Executive) greeted the students and began showing them around the facility.

One of the treats for the students was a match preview experience in the press room, where they got to experience the process of analysing opposition footage ahead of a fixture. An immersive experience for the group, and something that only a select few get to experience!

The tour continued on through the analysis staff room, dining hall, training room, the first team changing rooms, and lastly the boot room before proceeding out on to the training pitches to get front row views of the team’s prep work ahead of their upcoming match.

Some of the team graciously took the time between training drills to introduce themselves and engage with the students and of course taking photos with the group.

A special thank you to manager Neil Harris for meeting with the students and allowing them to be a part of the team during their visit. Additionally, thanks go to George Thomas, Harrison Dunk, Michael Morrison, James Brophy, Elias Kachunga, Sullay Kaikai, and Jack Stevens for making a special effort to get to know the students and really making them feel welcome at the training ground!

The visit was rounded off by spending time around the team in the dining area, where they got signatures and got to further interact with the players.

Thank you to the students and teachers from Gretton School for joining us for the morning, we hope you had as much fun as we did!
