“The event was incredible, it really showcased the best of Cambridge, bringing the community together and giving us the opportunity to raise the Foundation’s profile and do some fundraising. It was a great way to bring the club and Foundation staff together to achieve common goal. We are very much looking forward to next year!”

Ed Taylor – Engagement and Wellbeing Programme Manager

Sunday 3rd March saw the 2024 Cambridge Marathon take over the streets of Cambridge, with approximately 13,000 runners taking on the 13.1 mile endeavour. Among those 13,000 were six brave Cambridge United staff members, taking on the challenge.

The group saw Ed and Tim from Cambridge United Foundation, Neil, Gareth, and Bonham from the club, as well as Ben – the club chaplain, all participate in the event. We also had a number of friends running the distance, to raise awareness and money for Cambridge United Foundation.

The team had a successful morning on the roads, all of them finished, and pushed themselves all the way to the finish. We are proud of all of them for their dedicated efforts not only on the day, but in the months of training building up to the half marathon.

“This was a fantastic fundraising effort across Cambridge United and the Foundation. The whole team are incredibly grateful to everyone who sponsored us and came out to support on the day. We’re already planning to run again next year with an even bigger group of staff and fans. Watch this space!”

Tim Walker – Head of Cambridge United Foundation

The drive behind the guys running the half marathon, was to raise money for us here at Cambridge United Foundation, money which is invaluable in supporting the work we do to improve the lives of individuals around Cambridge, and most notably in the Abbey Ward.

The fundraising goal was £2,000 – a goal which we have not yet hit, but we believe we can still reach! We are drawing nearer but we need all the help we can get! If you would like to support us, and the team of guys who ran the event, donations are sincerely appreciated, and can be made here.
